The KooyongKoot is located on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people. It supports rich areas of biodiversity and as an urban waterway, flowing through a landscape of dense residential and commercial land use, it offers green areas of space, supporting community and cultural connection.

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people as the Traditional Owners of the land on which the Gardiners Creek (KooyongKoot) catchment is based.
We respect their continuing connection to land, waters and culture and recognise that sovereignty has never been ceded. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present, and extend that respect to any Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who visit this site.
